Sydsvenskan: ”Ann Roséns blyertstecknande ger upphov till sällsamma ljudupplevelser”

Release and opening: Conductive surfaces create subtle music at Galleri Ping-Pong

Ann Rosén opens her exhibition Conductive Surfaces at Galleri Ping-Pong in Malmö, featuring graphite works, and releases her exclusive vinyl album Dilate on September 18th. At the same time, the artist Andreas Nordström exhibits Tvärminnen.

Every day, during the last hour before the gallery closes, Ann Rosén does a personal gig for one or two people, where she plays and draws unique covers for the vinyl albums.

During Malmö Gallery Weekend, Ann Rosén will play two concerts at Galleri Ping-Pong, Friday September 24th at 7 p.m. and Sunday September 26th at 3 p.m.

Opening and release: September 18th, 2021 at 12-16 p.m.
The exhibition is shown until October 9th.
The gallery is open Wed to Fri 12-17 p.m. and Sat 12-16 p.m.

Residency and performance in Finland

During late August 2021, Ann Rosén is working at a residency at Pro Artibus in Ekenäs, Finland. On August 26th, Ann Rosén is performing at RAW – Relational Art Week, which focuses on the relation between publics and artworks. RAW started in 2019, and it is part of the yearly activity produced and curated by Myymälä2 curatorial group.

Det kommer främmande – praised by local media 

 On June 11th and 12th, the Barrier Orchestra performed a new composition ”Det kommer främmande” by Ann Rosén, Fabian Svensson and Sten-Olof Hellström at Vardagsrummet in the small village of Östra Hoby. The title alludes to the Swedish expression ”we’re having guests” which literally translates to ”there will be strangers coming”, with a two-fold meaning: ”strangers” and “guests” being the same word in Swedish, and in this context referring to both ”refugees” and ”guests”.

The concert performance is formed by the pandemic both in its setting and theme. It received praise in local newspaper Ystads Allehanda saying:

”…a magical experience. The Barrier Orchestra breaks all barriers in Österlen. /…/ It’s venturing, it’s experimental, and it’s undeniably what you can call ’narrow’ music. But if you open the throttle, it is also very appealing.”

Swedish art magazine CORA has a feature article about Ann Rosén’s artistry:

“Det var med Syntjuntan som Ann Rosén blev känd för en bredare allmänhet för tiotalet år sedan. Kvinnor och teknik var ett vinnande koncept hos såväl bidragsgivare som kursdeltagare och Ann Rosén skapade ett kit som kursdeltagare fick tillverka själva och dessutom ta med sig hem.”

”It was with Syntjuntan that Ann Rosén became known to a wider public ten years ago. Women and technology was a winning concept for both donors and course participants, and Ann Rosén created a kit with which the course participants could make their own little synth to take home.”
